Grade Ring (water) : A precast concrete ring 4 to 12 inches high which is placed on top of a manhole cone to raise the manhole cover frame flush with the surface grade. Sometimes called a "spacer."
Pump Station (water) : Installation of pumps to lift wastewater to a higher elevation in places where flat land would require excessively deep sewer trenches. Also used to raise wastewater from areas too low to drain into available collection lines. These stations may be equipped with airoperated ejectors or centrifugal pumps. See LIFT STATION.
