Microscreen (water) : A device with a fabric straining media with openings usually between 20 and 60 microns. The fabric is wrapped around the outside of a rotating drum. Wastewater enters the open end of the drum and flows out through the rotating screen cloth. At the highest point of the drum, the collected solids are backwashed by highpressure water jets into a trough located within the drum.
Retention Time (water) : The time water, sludge or solids are retained or held in a clarifier or sedimentation tank. See DETENTION TIME.
