Potable Water (water) : Water that does not contain objectionable pollution, contamination, minerals, or infective agents and is considered satisfactory for drinking.
Schedule, Pipe (water) : A sizing system of numbers that specifies the I.D. (inside diameter) and O.D. (outside diameter) for each diameter pipe. The schedule number is the ratio of internal pressure in psi divided by the allowable fiber stress multiplied by 1,000. Typical schedules of iron and steel pipe are schedules 40, 80, and 160. Other forms of piping are divided into various classes with their own schedule schemes.
