Activated Sludge Process (water) : A biological wastewater treatment process which speeds up the decomposition of wastes in the wastewater being treated. Activated sludge is added to wastewater and the mixture (mixed liquor) is aerated and agitated. After some time in the aeration tank, the activated sludge is allowed to settle out by sedimentation and is disposed of (wasted) or reused (returned to the aeration tank) as needed. The remaining wastewater then undergoes more treatment.
Sludge-Volume Ratio (SVR) (water) : The volume of sludge blanket divided by the daily volume of sludge pumped from the thickener.
AYVAN (eyvan) : 1.Eski evlerde, özellikle Güneydoğu Anadolu evlerinde avluya bakan yüzü açık, yüksekçe döşemeli, dikdörtgen planlı hacim. Ayvanlar genellikle bir beşik tonozla örtülü olup ortalarında küçük bir havuz bulunur. 2. Köşk.
Polistiren: Strienden polimerleşen, 60-80°C yumuşayan, 145°C kaynayan bir plastik. Genel olarak asitlere, alkalilere ve suya karşı çok dayanıklı olan polistirenlerin özellikleri, molekül ağırlıklarına göre çok değişir. Kaynar su ve tiner, polistiren üzerinde iz bırakır. Bu sakıncasına karşın dış ülkelerde özellikle saydam bölme yapımında cam tuğla gibi kullanılmaktadır. Polistiren, soğuk su borusu yapımında da kullanılmıştır.polistiren, mor ötesi ışınlarının etkisi ile sararır.
