Overturn (water) : The almost spontaneous mixing of all layers of water in a reservoir or lake when the water temperature becomes similar from top to bottom. This may occur in the fall/winter when the surface waters cool to the same temperature as the bottom waters and also in the spring when the surface waters warm after the ice melts.
Stilling Well (water) : A well or chamber which is connected to the main flow channel by a small inlet. Waves and surges in the main flow stream will not appear in the well due to the smalldiameter inlet. The liquid surface in the well will be quiet, but will follow all of the steady fluctuations of the open channel. The liquid level in the well is measured to determine the flow in the main channel.

Bağ kirişi: Düşey yüklemeye karşı çalışmayıp çekmeye çalışan ve elamanları konstrüktif olarak bağlayan betonarme kiriş. Bağ kirişi uzun nervürlü döşemelerde ve temellerde olur. Temellerde kullanılan bağ kirişlerine deprem (yada zelzele) kirişi adı da verilir.
