Current (water) : A movement or flow of electricity. Water flowing in a pipe is measured in gallons per second past a certain point, not by the number of water molecules going past a point. Electric current is measured by the number of coulombs per second flowing past a certain point in a conductor. A coulomb is equal to about 6.25 x 1018 electrons (6,250,000,000,000,000,000 electrons). A flow of one coulomb per second is called one ampere, the unit of the rate of flow of current.
Porosity (soil) : ΠA measure of the spaces or voids in a material or aquifer. The ratio of the volume of spaces in a rock or soil to the total volume. This ratio is usually expressed as a percentage.
