Stilling Well (water) : A well or chamber which is connected to the main flow channel by a small inlet. Waves and surges in the main flow stream will not appear in the well due to the smalldiameter inlet. The liquid surface in the well will be quiet, but will follow all of the steady fluctuations of the open channel. The liquid level in the well is measured to determine the flow in the main channel.
Recharge Rate (water) : Rate at which water is added beneath the ground surface to replenish or recharge groundwater.
