Joint (water) : A connection between two lengths of pipe, made either with or without the use of another part.
Schedule, Pipe (water) : A sizing system of numbers that specifies the I.D. (inside diameter) and O.D. (outside diameter) for each diameter pipe. The schedule number is the ratio of internal pressure in psi divided by the allowable fiber stress multiplied by 1,000. Typical schedules of iron and steel pipe are schedules 40, 80, and 160. Other forms of piping are divided into various classes with their own schedule schemes.
