Management Contracting (const) : Is the method of carrying out a construction project whereby a contractor is appointed at the pre-construction stage and paid on a fee basis, to manage and deliver the project. The fee comprises a percentage for profit and fixed overheads. All construction work is carried out by the sub-contractors, selected and appointed in consultation with the client and his professional advisers.
Pier (const) : An isolated column of masonry. A bearing wall not bonded at the sides into associated masonry is considered a pier when its horizontal dimension measured at right angles to the thickness does not exceed four times its thickness.
