Hydroxide Precipitation (water) : A method of removing common metals from wastestreams by the precipitation process. The pH of the metal waste is increased to an optimum level for hydroxide metal precipitates to form for the wastes being treated. The metal precipitates are settled out of the wastestream in clarifiers and are removed from the bottom of the clarifiers as metal sludges.
Combined Residual Chlorination (water) : The application of chlorine to water or wastewater to produce a combined available chlorine residual. The residual may consist of chlorine compounds formed by the reaction of chlorine with natural or added ammonia (NH3) or with certain organic nitrogen compounds.
